Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need previous kayaking experience to join this tour?
No prior kayaking experience is necessary. Our guides provide a safety and paddling briefing at the start and ensure the pace and difficulty suit the group. It’s beginner-friendly and perfect for families and first-timers.
What will be the pace?
Our tours are always at a very relaxed pace — we’ve never asked anyone to paddle faster. It’s about enjoying the journey, not racing to the destination (even though the destinations are amazing!). If you’re an experienced paddler looking for a more challenging adventure, let us know — we’d love to organize a private trip just for you.
Is this tour suitable for children?
Absolutely! This tour is ideal for kids, as it beautifully combines outdoor adventure with fun historical learning. Children aged 6 and up are welcome, as long as they’re comfortable in the water and accompanied by an adult. We use double kayaks for parents and children, and always adjust the pace and route to suit the group.
How do I choose between the short and the extended version?
The short version (4 hours) includes kayaking around the ancient acropolis, a visit to the Small Theatre of Epidavros, and snorkeling over the Ancient Sunken City.
The extended version (6 hours) adds a paddle to a secluded beach, a chance to spot sea turtles, more snorkeling, and ends with a delicious homemade traditional meal.
During the warmer months, we highly recommend the extended version unless you’re on a tight schedule or budget. The extended version will maximize your chances to swim with a sea turtle. In colder months, the short version is the more comfortable choice.
How certain is it that I will see and swim with sea turtles?
While we cannot guarantee sightings of sea turtles as they are wild animals, during the three summer months it is next to impossible not to encounter them in the area. So, almost definitely you will be swimming next to one on our tour.
Can I touch the sea turtles?
No. Sea turtles allow us to swim near them at a distance that shows respect. Touching them would violate this trust and is considered a disturbance to their natural behavior.
When is the best time of year to do this tour?
The short version is ideal for cooler months (spring or autumn), while the extended version is best during the warm season (late spring through early autumn) when swimming and snorkeling are most enjoyable.
Are there any age or health restrictions?
We don’t require participants to be particularly fit — we trust you to decide whether you’re comfortable joining. If you have any health conditions, feel free to let us know in advance so we can support you accordingly. We’ve proudly welcomed people with disabilities on our tours.
What kind of kayaks do you use?
We use fast and stable sit-in sea kayaks that make paddling very easy, even for beginners.
What if the weather is bad on the day of our tour?
Safety is our top priority. If the weather conditions are unsafe (e.g. strong winds), we may adjust the route, reschedule, or offer a full refund if cancellation is necessary.
What should I wear and bring?
We recommend a swimsuit, UV-protective shirt, hat, and sunglasses. Bring a towel, sunscreen, and water shoes to protect against sea urchins. Most importantly, bring your enthusiasm and smiles!
Will I get photos from the tour?
Yes! We provide a waterproof camera during the snorkeling portion, and you’ll receive a selection of photos after the tour at no extra charge.
Are meals or snacks provided?
Yes. Both versions include snacks and water. The extended version also includes a full traditional homemade Greek meal at the end of the tour.
Is transportation included in the price?
No, transfers are not included in the price. However, we’re happy to help you arrange transportation to and from the meeting point upon request (an additional cost may apply).
How many people are on the tour?
We require a minimum of 2 participants and can host up to 30. That said, our average group size is around 6 people — small enough for a personal and friendly experience.
Can I book the tour privately for my family or group?
Absolutely. Private tours are available — just contact us directly and we’ll help create a custom experience for your group.
What happens if I need to cancel?
Please see our Terms & Conditions for full details on cancellations and refunds. Generally, the more notice you give us, the more flexible we can be.
