What to Bring

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be very fit to join?

You don’t need to be an athlete, but basic general fitness is recommended. You’ll be paddling, carrying gear, and living outdoors for several days. If you enjoy active travel and spending time in nature, you’ll do great.

What about food and cooking?

All meals, snacks, and refreshments are provided throughout the expedition. During the expedition days, all participants are expected to pitch in with cooking and camp chores. It’s part of the shared experience and adds to the sense of camaraderie.

Where do we sleep?

The first and last night of the trip are spent camping in the beautiful garden of our base. The rest of the nights are spent wild camping along the coast, usually on remote beaches and occasionally in small seaside villages.

What kind of kayaks do you use?

We use a mix of single and double sea kayaks, depending on group dynamics and personal preference.

Do I need to bring my own gear?

We provide all sea kayaking gear, safety equipment, cooking and eating utensils, snorkeling and fishing gear, dry bags, and waterproof cameras. You just need to bring your own personal camping gear and clothes (see “What to Bring”).

 What’s included in the price?

Everything from airport transfers to all meals, kayaking gear, guide services, dry bags, and camping support is included. Please refer to the full expedition listing for the complete inclusions.

What if the weather is bad?

We adjust the pace and route depending on sea and weather conditions to keep the expedition safe and enjoyable. We always have backup plans and flexibility built in.

What if I’ve never kayaked before?

Some previous kayaking experience is helpful, but most of our expedition clients have none. We teach all necessary techniques at the beginning. Some level of fitness is recommended, but no prior technical experience is required.

How much paddling do we do per day?

We usually paddle between 3–6 hours a day, depending on conditions and the group’s pace. There are regular breaks for swimming, eating, exploring, or resting.

What kind of wildlife might we see?

We often see sea turtles, and with a bit of luck, we may also spot dolphins or Mediterranean monk seals. The region is rich in marine and coastal life.

What’s the terrain like at the campsites?

We camp mostly on remote sandy or pebbled beaches, sometimes near small villages. Conditions are basic, but the locations are stunning and peaceful.

Can I charge my devices?

There is limited access to power during the expedition. We recommend bringing a power bank or solar charger. You can charge devices at our base on the first and last night.

Will there be showers and toilets?

At our base, you’ll have access to a shower and bathroom with a toilet. During the expedition, we wild camp, so for going to the toilet you’ll use a shovel we provide to dig a hole, or make use of public toilets in villages when available.

How do you handle emergencies?

Our guides carry full first aid kits, emergency communication devices, and are trained in wilderness medical response. Safety is our top priority, and we’re always in touch with our home office.

What if I can’t keep up with the group?

This is not a race. We paddle as a group and support each other. The pace is adjusted depending on the team’s energy and comfort.

Do I need travel insurance?

Yes, travel insurance is required and should include coverage for outdoor activities like kayaking and camping.
